“Unfailing”

Pondering the thought of unfailing love and faithfulness this brisk morning, I landed on unfailing love and decided to drop the faithfulness. My morning walk took me through the winter woods. I enjoyed the cold air and movement a morning walk brings on a December morning in Texas. At the end of the walk, after several detours, I saw a vibrant color in the dirt, quite unusual in the winter here, in grey Texas. I had run across a prickly pear separate from the plant, but instead of turning grey before dissipating into the earth, it was a glorious fuchsia. Just green fading into fuchsia in this grey winter world.  I walked a few steps guiding me to the huge prickly pear cactus…looking radiantly alive amidst the grey day.  I’ve always admired the rugged beauty of this girl, when she bursts with vibrant fuchsia pears that bloom into succulent sunny yellow blooms. Today the pear had decided to give life to 3 new prickly pear plants…baby pricklies. Tiny cactus, from the pear the color of the leaf, I found on the ground.  A very unlikely place to find unfailing love, a pokey cactus, but there it was.  The old wintered plant continued to bear nourishment to keep its life going. It may not look like what we expect, but just like the cactus, that love never fails…unfailing. I got back home, did a little yoga when I remembered the faithfulness I earlier chose to disregard.  God had other plans. This was about His unfailing faithfulness.  Love yes, but faithfulness is what gave the cactus new life.  His faithfulness is ever-present, each moment of every day, if we chose to notice, allow and accept. He waits…always.   Do you believe God is always waiting, longing to share your day? How can you trust that belief?

Allow & Delight:  Find a comfortable seated position.  Notice your breath, observing your inhale and exhale without judgment. Become curious, just observing the breath. Inhale expanding the belly outward, exhale pulling the navel toward your spine.    Inhale for four counts, exhale for four.  Continue this inhale and exhale expanding the lungs followed by emptying the lungs of old carbon dioxide as you pull the navel back toward the spine.  On the next inhale imagine breathing in God’s faithfulness…what does that look like?  As you exhale imagine that ever-present faithfulness seeping into every cell of your body.  Inhale a love that lasts forever.  Exhale any doubts.   Inhale His love so wreck-less that it overcomes any fear.  His love is that big.  Exhale fear… small, large any fear.  Continue breathing in the faithfulness of God.  Match the exhale letting go of doubt and fear of any shape or size.  overwhelming, everlasting wreck-less love and faithfulness of God…exhale doubt and fear.  Continue Loving Acceptance Breath 3-5 minutes or as long as possible. Does the painting evoke emotion in you? Notice and become curious. Delight in that emotion whether it is pleasant or not. Rejoicing in all circumstances. This is a tiny step regarding a feeling about a painting, but the more we practice staying with the emotions that come up, the more our body and mind heal. Allowing yourself to feel the good and the uncomfortable offer healing. Continue breathing a few more rounds. What happened to the discomfort? Notice what thoughts surfaced? Continue Looking, really seeing. Are you drawn to anything else? What could God be guiding you to see?  Tiny Trust: Can you connect to pure love? Allow it to hold you?

Can you receive Pure Love? How? Where in your body do you notice receiving?  Why does faithfulness matter?

Can you receive Pure love? Why or why not?

Can you share pure love?
