“Beside”
Suffolk, Polworth, Drysdale or Border Leicester…we saw them all from our white Corolla. Hundreds of beautiful sheep, roamed freely throughout the pristine New Zealand countryside. Sheep love to travel in groups, to follow. I took hundreds of photos, but this girl intrigued me the most. She obviously led the entire flock.
Sheep historically, are revered physically, but also spiritually. They provide food, their wool provides warmth, and sinews were used for sewing thread. Their sacrifice has saved the lives of many people. This gentle girl lives to sustain another.
“Beside” us, God is always available. Just as the faithful Suffolk, Polworth or Drysdale, our Lamb of God offers all we need, if we choose to notice He is there. Walking beside him is different from behind, He seeks a relationship. He seeks time with you. Tiny choices of spending a few minutes to know our Lamb, provide sustaining Bread of Life and Comforting Warmth, even more sustaining than the beauties sprinkled on the green hillsides of New Zealand. He is Always waiting…Beside you. How can you trust Him to give you what you need…just enough?
Allow & Delight: Find a comfortable seated position. Begin Long Deep Breathing through the nose as you fill the belly. You are expanding the diaphragm. Inhale, knowing worthiness has nothing to do with God’s love that is always available. Inhale the gift of unmerited favor. Continue Long Deep Breathing by continuing to notice your breath for a few rounds. Inhale, expanding the belly as you visualize one line of the poem “I Wait.” Exhale the next line. Continue inhaling and exhaling as you keep your mind focused on the words of the poem.
“I Wait”
Inhale: When He looked in my young eyes, I was not there
Exhale: The mask I wore said leave me alone
Inhale: My soul is too torn to try
Exhale: I feel nothing and nothing is so alone
Continue long deep breathing as you seek to see the meaning of the words of this poem:
He said, “I didn’t come to serve the worthy
I didn’t come so you’d be strong
When you are too torn to try, try Me
When you are too torn to try, try Me
I Wait
My hiding soul becomes what others want
Expectations kills authenticity
Lost is the original, gift not of chance I was made to be
He said, “I didn’t come to serve the worthy
I didn’t come so you’d be strong
When you are too torn to try, try me
When you are too torn to try, try me
I Wait
There were two with me on Calvary
The lives they lived went wrong
Both unlikely and unworthy
One denied, but one held on
He said, “I didn’t come to serve the worthy
I didn’t come so you’d be strong
When you are too torn to try, try Me
When you are too torn to try, try Me
I Wait
He Waits…
What tiny trust is urging you to act in love?
